KEDC Launches New Marketing Website |
Choose Kewanee site focused on data for site selectors; information resources for community and local businesses
For Immediate Release
After months of data collection, the Kewanee Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) has launched its new website located at www.kedcorp.org. While the website has the same address, the look and feel of the website is entirely different. “Almost 80% of site searches begin on the internet. If you are not up there with an updated website that includes information about your community demographics, businesses, location, and available sites & buildings, you’re not on anyone’s radar for expansion purposes”, stated Russell Medley, Executive Director of the KEDC.
The new website is focused on marketing Kewanee, not the KEDC, under the brand “Choose Kewanee…the Right Choice for Business”. The information included on the website includes not only information about Kewanee itself, but also regional information. “Kewanee is in a great location halfway between the Quad Cities and Peoria. We need to market our location as one of the advantages of doing business here. We are centrally located within a region of almost 1 million people and we tend to forget that”, stated Medley.
Besides demographic, business, and workforce information, the website includes data about local schools, healthcare, media, taxes, utilities, transportation, and quality of life. Additionally, the “Business Resources & Links” section includes links to sites that have valuable information for businesses and future Kewanee entrepreneurs. The goal of the KEDC is to provide a one-stop economic development information portal for companies interested in Kewanee as a business location and for Kewanee residents and businesses looking for information that can help them succeed in today’s global market.
The site will also serve as a way for KEDC investors to get their names and websites recognized. An investors’ directory included on the website includes investor company names, location, website address if available, and product/service description. The website will be continuously updated with new information and KEDC invites the community to provide input regarding what they’d like to see on the site. “This is just the beginning” said Medley, “
The website is an important part of KEDC’s communication infrastructure that will include a newsletter, a social media presence through Facebook and Twitter, and a site selectors newsletter/information sheet targeted at consulting firms and professionals that assist business clients find sites and buildings”.
